A REPORT ON WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

SYMBIOSIS HYDERABAD CELEBRATES WOMEN’S DAY

8thMarch 2016, International Women’s Day was an event which was celebrated all across the globe. Symbiosis Institute of Business Management Hyderabad joined in to celebrate the spirit of womanhood. Shakti,Women Development Cell of SIBM –H organized the celebrations with the support of Organizing Committee, Graffiti team and Literature Club. The theme of the event was Women sarpanch of the Global Village, celebrating the past and taking lessons of the future

The event started off at 3:00 pm in the SIBM - H auditorium. To begin with a progress report of Women Development Cell was presented by Prof. Ridhi Rani. It very much emphasised on the initiatives taken by WDC and one of the prominent one among all those is the “institute rural connect”whichmainly focusses on the basic and fundamental problems of nearby village .A roadmap towards achieving this was duly unveiled. Then Mr. M.I.Baig, the Director of Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad graced the stage and shared views regarding Women development and empowerment. He spoke about women rights and how women have played a big role in quality upbringing of all saints of the past. Then the stage was taken over by Dr.R.K.Jain, Director of SIBM Hyderabad who emphasized the managerial role of women in Indian households.

Thereafter, Mrs.Priya Iyenger addressed the audience and enlightened everybody about “Celebrating yourself every day.” The speaker next in line was Mrs.Sujata Potay, an eminent psychologist, who had a brief but interactive session about how to recognize one’s own strength. The event culminated with the key note speaker’s address by Dr.Tejaswini Yarlagadda who spoke regarding the overall outlook and history of Indian women.




The celebrations continued in the evening as well . It witnessed a huge turnout of students at the amphitheatre who had gathered to watch a joint cultural performance which waspresented by SIBM and SLS. The first performance was given by SIBM dramatics club which focused on disparity against women and women emancipation. The next is store was a dance performance by Symbiosis Law School followed by ramp walk by them. To add a tinge of humour to the proceedings, some students from SIBM took to stage and performed a mimicry of their class-mates which was appreciated by audience with lots of laughter and thunderous round applause. The last event for the evening was by SIBM which was a ramp walk with an ethnic theme.



Special food stalls offering street styled Chaat and other varieties were arranged which was very much appreciated by the students and spread cheer among them as they relished the delicacies. Gaming corners were also setup which included simple games which were enjoyed by all.
