The company serves customers in over 50 countries, spanning a wide range of industries such as Infrastructure, Power, Hydrocarbon, Process Industry, Defense, Information Technology, Products, Systems & Equipment.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Project was given to Larsen and Toubro Limited by the then-Andhra Pradesh government. L&T formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) - L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited ("The Company") to carry out the Project on a Design, Built, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis. This is the largest fund tie-up in India for a non-power infrastructure Public Private Partnership (PPP) project in the metro rail sector.

Metro Rail Network:

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Network is an extensive transportation project that encompasses three corridors, spanning a total distance of approximately 72 kms. The corridors are designated as follows:

Corridor I: Miyapur to LB Nagar

Corridor II: JBS (Jubilee Bus Station) to Falaknuma

Corridor III: Nagole to Shilparamam

The Hyderabad Metro Rail project includes two significant depots. The primary depot, situated at Nagole, will serve as a pivotal center for train maintenance and operational support. Additionally, a secondary depot located at Miyapur will play a crucial role in facilitating the efficient operations of the metro network. L&T mainly takes care of 3 operations: ATO (Automatic Train Operation), ATP (Automatic Train Protection) and Restrictive mode.

The Operations and Maintenance Controller Department:

The L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad uses the Communication Based Trains Control (CBTC) Signaling Technology, enabling an efficient driverless Automatic Train Operation (ATO) system where signals are directly transmitted between trains traveling in opposite directions. Mr. Sundara Pandian, Operations Officer, demonstrated this technology using a prototype model of the entire metro rail network in Hyderabad.
