Hyderabad: In observance of World Environment Day 2015 and as a part of the global campaign, students of Symbiosis Institute of business Management, Hyderabad took the initiative to spread awareness about the importance of conserving environment in Mamidipally, Mahbubnagar district. World environment day is one of the principle vehicles through which the U.N stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.
Symbiosis International University was built on the principles of vedic thought of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakkam’, (world as one family).It has a legacy of 40 successful years in imparting education to over 27000 Indian and international students an over one lakh students off campus. Symbiosis is a family of 44 academic institutions promoting international understanding through quality education. SIBM Hyderabad is the newest addition to the Symbiosis family, set aloof from the everyday hustle and bustle of city life thereby preserving and promoting peace both throughout the environment and in the minds of the students.
The family of Symbiosis Hyderabad led by the CSR club S-hy (Sahay) and the student council have delved into a plethora of activities that empower the society on a grandiose scale. Activities like ‘Earth Day’, ‘Harithon’, ‘Swacch Bharat’, and ‘Women’s day celebration’ for student’s staff and women helpers to name a few. SLS (Symbiosis Law School) students have proposed a Legal- Aid cell at Mamidipally to bridge the gap between the students and the legal structure. This event of World Environment Day marked the beginning for the future events to come to contribute back to the society.
SIBM-Hyderabad celebrated World Environment Day organized by the student managed CSR Club S-HY (Sahay) to uphold the importance of Environment Day, in lieu of this day 200 trees were planted in and around the sprawling campus of SIU Hyderabad. As a mark of beginning of conservation of environment, 5000 saplings will be planted in harmony with the Sarpanch of Mamidpally and the local population. The Chief Guest of the day was P. Raghuveer I.F.S. Addl. Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests/Director, Telangana State Forest Academy. He was accompanied by 20 members of the forest department who guided the students with the plantation. Without their benison none of this would have been possible. Mr. P.Raghuveer emphasized on the importance on taking a larger initiative to promote greener in and around the Symbiosis Campus and nearby villages. Dr. Ravi Kumar Jain, Director SIBM-HYD, Dr. B.R. Londhe, Dy. Director SIBM-HYD accompanied by Dr. M. I. Baig , Director SLS Hyderabad, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Dhari, Dy. Director SLS Hyderabad and Col. Muraleedharan, Campus Adminitrator, graced the occasion and supported the student to take up many more such initiatives.
The event saw the participation of all faculty, staff and students of SIBM and SLS Hyderabad. Other dignitaries at the event included Mrs.Shobha Rani, Sarpanch of Mamidipally amongst many others. The event was a success under the watchful eye of Col. Muraleedharan and his team attended by all faculty, staff and students of SIBM and SLS Hyderabad.
