Event Name: Avenues’23

Objective: Business fests enable students to participate in various events, develop their soft skills, and enrich their professional network with industry professionals and students from other business schools.

Outcome: The participants had insightful learning as they got to compete with students from business schools across the country.

Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, organized Avenues’23 for MBA students from 3 rd November to 5 th November 2023. Students from management institutes nationwide participated in various events like quizzes, cultural events, and guest talks. Mr. Kishan Pallav and Mr. Anubhav Dixit, students from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Hyderabad competed in ‘Inquizitive: The Gen Quiz’, which was a general quiz conducted online and on the campus of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

About the Business Fest

Avenues is the flagship international business fest organized by Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, consisting of literary events, case competitions, general quiz, cultural events, and guest talks with industry experts.

Event flow

Inquizitive: The Gen Quiz consisted of two rounds:

• Round 1- Quiz Round (online at Unstop)
• Round 2- National Finale (Offline at IIT Bombay Campus)

Participants had to register for the event on the Unstop platform.

Round 1 consisted of 20 questions to be answered in 15 minutes while round 2 was held at the IIT Bombay campus, having a prelims and finals format where prelims was a written round and the top 6 teams moved to the finals.

Students from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management registered themselves for the event from Unstop and appeared for round 1 of the quiz. They qualified for the given round which gave them an opportunity to go for round 2 on campus.

Round 2 consisted of prelims where the questions were shown on a screen and students had to answer 20 questions in 10 minutes. The students answered many questions correctly and they qualified for the final round where they competed with 5 other teams from business schools.

The final round was tougher and the questions were to be answered in a very short time. The questions were passed on to another team for them to answer if a particular team could not answer them correctly.

The questions were asked from different domains of history, geography, literature, physics, biology, mathematics. All the participants gave a tough competition to each other and the top three winners were given appreciation awards and prizes.

• Taking the quiz is a key skill where not only does the knowledge matter, but also it is equally important to make a guess making use of your intuition.
• You cannot answer every question on your knowledge, hence keeping confidence and still going with some answers is important.

The event also gave a chance to network with students from various business schools and industry professionals in the form of guest talks. This helped in exchanging the culture of various business schools across the country.
