Event Name: Champions of Change
Objective: The Initiative's primary goal is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of NGOs and the pressing concerns they tackle.
Outcome: Engaging in this initiative will help students recognize the importance of serving society, particularly as future corporate managers. They'll gain valuable insights such as appreciating human values, social responsibility, and the ability to make critical decisions related to grassroots initiatives.

Shakti Women Development and Social Responsibility cell of SIBM- Hyderabad
organised their event -Champions of Change in association with Goonj- Hyderabad to provide assistance to the team for the initiatives and noble cause taken by Goonj. The event took place at Goonj office on 9th September situated in Hyderabad.

As soon as we reached the office of Goonj we got to know more insight regarding the institute. Unlike many other NGOs, Goonj does not perceive its work as charity; instead, they view themselves as a dynamic movement or a transformative idea. Notably, Goonj Hyderabad operates the smallest processing unit, where all donated materials are carefully handled. Their unique focus is on using clothing as a tool for development, considering poverty as a significant societal challenge. Goonj employs a rigorous process to evaluate and prepare materials for distribution, emphasizing a dignified presentation. Their outreach extends across
Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where they produce an impressive 3,000 kits each month. These kits encompass essential, family, and school components. Additionally, Goonj is involved in an innovative initiative that involves repurposing cotton and semi-cotton clothing into sanitary pads, which are then distributed to women in need. During the event, participants were assigned to different tasks to gain a deeper understanding of Goonj's impactful work.

We were assigned various tasks, including sorting clothes, distinguishing usable A4 size sheets from discarded ones, and assembling hygiene kits. Engaging in these activities allowed us to gain insights into the daily operational needs of the processing units and their functioning. Notably, these initiatives also contribute to providing employment opportunities for women in the community.

As the event drew to a close, we concluded our tasks and expressed our appreciation by honouring the dedicated team at Goonj, those overseeing the Hyderabad processing unit. This event marked a resounding success, offering us valuable insights into Goonj's noble mission.
