Summary
Event Name: Embark – Operations Aspirants Peer Meet
Objective: To help operations aspirants make informed decisions regarding their specialization by providing them with peer knowledge and experiences from senior operations students, facilitate interactions between senior students and aspirants, and conclude with an interactive Q&A session.
Outcome: All students appreciated the efforts of OP$-ERA – the Operations Club, as they were happy to learn about the Operations Course in our college.
OP$-ERA – The Operations Club of SIBM Hyderabad, organized “Embark – Operations Aspirants Peer Meet” for the MBA Batch (2023-25) on 26th August, 2023 at Lecture Theatre from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, to help operations aspirants make informed decisions regarding their specialization by providing them with peer knowledge and experiences from senior operations students and facilitate interactions. The program started at 5:30 PM; After attendance, Shamrinsha M, Head of OP$-ERA – The Operations Club, greeted everyone and set the context of the meeting.

Subsequently, the operations program structure discussion was presented on the structure of operation specialization, including an overview of students and learnings, which senior members explained to all the junior aspirants. All 12 subjects of the operation specialization and insights were explained by senior members.

Peer experience Sharing:
One of the super senior students from the MBA Operations (2017-19) batch, working as a Head of
Operational excellence at TCS (Tata consultancy services), shared his personal experiences,
challenges, and growth during his journey. He further discussed the subjects he studied, the skills
he developed, and the career opportunities he explored. He also offered valuable advice to aspiring
operations students.

Activity: Fundamentals of Operations
This activity had two themes, the first being Laundry Services on campus and the second being Mess
food, where students were asked to apply five operations concepts that suits these 2 themes and
identify how to improve the efficiency and workload through operations concepts. The Activity was
well executed during the event, and attendees came up with different concepts they knew and
contributed well to this activity. They formed a group of 4 members and devised different ideas and
concepts of operations that needs to be improved on the campus.
The activity resulted in very insightful responses from 4 teams; Their suggestions to improvement,
with the help of operations concepts, were noted by the senior members.
Interactive Q&A Session:
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session where attendees sought clarifications and
suggestions from the senior students. This allowed attendees to get their questions answered and
learn more about the operations domain. A senior operations student moderated the session, and
attendees were encouraged to ask questions about any aspect of the operations specialization
program, or the field of operations management in general.
The general questions about the subjects in the operations specialization were asked by the
aspirants, which the senior members answered well.
