The Human Resources Club of SIBM-H Humanalaya conducted a Guest Lecture on the topic Competency based HRM and Competency based Mapping for the human resource students of MBA Batch 2023- 25 on 23rd September 2024. The guest lecturer for the session was Mr. Sravan Medapati, Director – Learning lead DCX Academy, Capgemini.

In the lecture, Mr. Sravan Medapati highlighted the importance of competency-based HRM for aligning employee skills with organizational goals. We explored Competency Mapping, which involves identifying roles, defining key competencies, and creating a matrix to manage recruitment, performance, and development effectively.
The guest also discussed competency-based learning and development, focusing on identifying gaps and designing programs to address them. Competency-Based Performance Management was emphasized, where feedback and rewards are linked to competency growth, fostering career progression.
The session addressed challenges like resistance to change and difficulties in measuring behavioral competencies. It also covered the importance of competency mapping, key terminologies, and the steps involved in the mapping process. Various assessment methods were discussed, including self-assessment, 360-degree feedback, psychometric tests, and observation-based management. Additionally, different tools used for competency mapping were introduced.
