Overview:

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Hyderabad, in association with the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX), successfully organized the MCX Certified Commodity Professional (MCCP) Training Program from 2nd to 5th September 2024. The program was aimed at providing in-depth knowledge of the commodity markets, trading strategies, and regulatory frameworks to students, preparing them for professional roles in commodity derivatives markets.

Objectives:

  • To familiarize participants with the commodity derivatives market in India.

  • To impart practical insights into trading strategies and regulatory mechanisms.

  • To enhance students’ understanding of the commodity market's entire domain.

  • To offer a comprehensive certification program that adds value to students' professional profiles.

Program Highlights: The MCCP Training Program spanned four days with 20 hours of classroom sessions.
The sessions were conducted by esteemed professionals from MCX including:

  • Mr. Ashutosh Vasisht, Assistant Vice President, Training and Education, MCX

  • Mr. Saurabh Khanna, Manager, Training and Education, MCX

The training covered various aspects of commodity markets, including:

  • Market structure and product categories

  • Trading, clearing, and settlement processes

  • Risk management strategies

  • Regulatory frameworks

  • Practical insights and case studies related to commodity derivatives.

Inaugural Session: The event began with a welcome address by Dr. KP Venugopal, Director of SIBM-Hyderabad, who emphasized the importance of industry-oriented certification programs like MCCP. He highlighted the necessity of equipping students with contemporary knowledge for a smooth transition from academia to industry.
Mr. Ashutosh Vasisht and Mr. Saurabh Khanna then set the tone for the program with their introductory remarks, sharing valuable insights into the evolving commodity markets and how this training would benefit students looking to build a career in this field.

40 students from MBA-III semesters actively participated in the program.

The participants were required to pass an assessment test at the end of the training, which was mandatory for certification.

The feedback received from students was overwhelmingly positive. They appreciated the detailed content of the program and the practical insights provided by the experienced trainers from MCX. The interactive sessions allowed students to engage directly with professionals, further enhancing their learning experience.
