The orientation provided students with a clear understanding of the critical differences between sales and marketing, helping them make informed decisions about their specialization. The session highlighted the transformative role of technology in modern marketing, underscoring the need for adaptability in an ever-evolving industry. Students were encouraged to focus on future-oriented roles that will grow alongside technological advancements, ensuring long-term career success.
On 26th September 2024 at the Convention Hall, we had the session on "Career in Marketing" which provided an in-depth understanding of the marketing industry, offering guidance on market dynamics, job profiles, and emerging trends in the field. It was delivered by Mr. Puneet Gupta who has had an exceptional career in marketing. He has twenty-nine years of diversified international experience in Sales & Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Operations and Planning, and Technology. Consulting for large multinational companies across industries. He has worked across a spectrum of multinational companies Tech M, Deloitte, IBM, Accenture, DHL, and Infosys.
The orientation session, aimed at guiding students in selecting their specialization, began with the speaker posing a thought-provoking question: “What does specialization mean for an individual?” This led to a discussion on whether finance or marketing is more important for a firm. The speaker emphasized that the decision should be based on personal interests rather than external influence.

The speaker clarified the difference between sales and marketing, explaining that sales focus on direct customer interaction, while marketing involves developing creative strategies to support sales. He stressed that sales and marketing are intertwined, with everyone engaging in these roles, whether consciously or not. For example, how we present ourselves through attire and behaviour is a form of personal marketing.
